The highest level of the Divine expression is articulated through a Triad or three key-manifestations of the Divine. The Triad describes the expression of the three main Divine Functions. The Traditional Roman Religion is based on a First Triad (or Archaic Triad) and a Second Triad. The First Triad is composed of Jupiter-Mars-Quirinus: the Second Triad is composed of Jupiter-Juno-Minerva.
The First Triad
The First Triad is mentioned in many religious formula and rituals ( devotio , ritual of the Salii, consacration of spolia opima , etc…), and historically it was embedded and personified by the main flamines : the Flamen Dialis, the Flamen Martialis, the Flamen Quirinalis.
- The first function expressed by the Triad is Authority , sacralized by the theology and symbology of Jupiter : it is materialized into legal and sacral power and into Law.
- The second function is Force , in physical sense as well as fecundating energy, sacralized by the theology and symbology of Mars : it is materialized into martial activities and into the energy of Nature.
- The third function is Civil and Social Organization and Prosperity , sacralized by the theology and symbology of Quirinus : it is materialized into civil commitment and work activities
